20 years of challenges. Business in Szczecin:

When, 2 decades ago, the foundation stone was dug for the Pazim Complex, later known as "Mister Szczecin”, expectations as to the development of Szczecin city centre were extremely high. Initially, for the construction and maintenance of the office, hotel and services complex, Polsteam formed Pazim (16 May 1990). Today, the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Has it fulfilled the early, ambitious expectations for the development of Szczecin city centre? In a word, yes.

During Communist times, town planners had designated the empty square alongside Plac Rodla for office and commercial development. Today, life flourishes here, its revival having started in 1990, when, under the supervision of Pazim construction management, the first cranes arrived on site. Construction resulted in the expansion of central Szczecin’s energy supply, water, heating and sewage infrastructure.

Ilbau of Vienna, who had previously been responsible for the construction of the Marriott Hotel in Warsaw, was the main contractor. The investment went apace, heralding the free market economy, and creating in the city class A office premises. It took just two years to construct the contemporary office block with impressive service facilities, along with Poland’s first Radisson hotel.

The arrival of the complex strengthened the economic development of the city centre. The concentration of banks in the complex resulted in the initial growth of the city’s financial sector around Plac Rodla. Its three-storey commercial centre with Szczecin’s first escalators was not only a place to shop but for many years was also a landmark and meeting place. During the 1990s, Pazim staff worked tirelessly to attract investors to Szczecin, who would then attract customers to their comfortable offices, thus stimulating both the development of business and tourism.

Along with economic development, the Pazim complex, located at the intersection of the main tram and express bus lines, confirmed the objectives of the investment, proving itself to be the ideal place to meet and do business. Today, alongside renting office space and managing the complex, the company provides a much wider range of separate services.

The company’s further development saw the creation of services unique to Szczecin: Café 22; on the banks of the river Oder the Ladoga Cruise Ship, and the Odra Queen and Peene Queen pleasure cruisers; in the city centre the Baila nightclub and Baltica Wellness & Spa which, after only two years in operation was voted Poland’s best Day Spa (at the International Tourism Fair in Wroclaw 2010).

2010 year Pazim Sp. z o.o. was marking 20 years of successful business operations.
